The Washington Post: Keith Olbermann was willing to quit for his right to blast Bill O'Reilly

This according to Keith Olbermann's Ego's Ego and the Washington Post and Howard Kurtz.

The peace talks with Fox sparked a fierce battle within MSNBC, where a faction led by Olbermann argued that the network's journalistic integrity was at stake -- and that any leak of a nonaggression pact with Fox could damage NBC's reputation for independence.

See? The Ego was leading the forefront, battling for journalistic independence and integrity. What? No, I don't know why the Ego forgot to mention this until now. Huh? Of course this latest version of events has everything nothing whatsoever to do with the many attacks on Keith Olbermann's Ego this week in internet land.

The day after Olbermann's comments about the Tiller slaying, executives convened a large meeting and talked about Fox and the importance of striking the right on-air tone. Olbermann later expressed a willingness to make minor adjustments in his style, but he and his allies, concerned about setting a precedent, dug in for a fight. Olbermann left Zucker and executives with the impression that he might quit if the dispute wasn't resolved to his satisfaction.

Several liberal bloggers have chastised their ally Olbermann. The Huffington Post's Jason Linkins wrote that Olbermann is lying, charging that he stopped talking about O'Reilly after June 1 because he had been silenced by the GE brass. But Olbermann told another critic, Salon's Glenn Greenwald, that "there's no 'deal.' I would never consent, and, fortunately, MSNBC and NBC News would never ask me to."

And this my friends is how the game is played. The Ego got a lot of bad press from this Liberal allies" (allies my ass) and decided to one up them. So what did Keith Olbermann's Ego do? Why pick up the phone and spin a new version of events. And what do you know, this article appears at the Washington Post (the great rival to the NY Times) and this my friends is how once again Keith Olbermann's Ego's has managed to turn shit into sugar ad emerge smelling like a rose. Now everyone is free to heap praise on the Ego once again as he is once again a brave fighter for truth, integrity, and most importantly, for Keith Olbermann's Career the American Way.

They love me. They really love me. And why wouldn't they? I am greatness personified even when it's doing something so trivial as football highlights. It would be better if it were baseball highlights but whatever, praise is praise and I love it that this guy, this astute writer, no doubt a very intelligent man (but not as intelligenet as the genius that is me) gets me. And loves me. I am the GOLD STANDARD people. Use that phrase as often as possible about me from now on in your conversations about me. And of course you frequently talk about me. Because I'm me and I am GOLDEN.

Add the Washington Post to my list

Yeah, that's right. I'm number one baby. Me. And only me. And you know what else? The Washington Post is number one at the top of my list this morning. Their little bitch Howard Kurtz doesn't like me to begin with.

Anyone who thought the Democratic convention would be a dull and choreographed affair clearly didn't count on the bitter, ego-fueled clashes that marked the week. And that was just at MSNBC.

Ha ha. Isn't he funny? Look, I denied this. So if I denied it, even if there is videotape to prove otherwise, it never happened. Got it?

But a number of NBC correspondents are upset over the recent antics at their sister channel, prompting longtime anchor Tom Brokaw to say last week that Olbermann and Matthews have at times "gone too far."

Brokaw went too far when his criticism of the greatness that is me fell out of his mouth. I've made him grovel to me so I feel better now and while he is not forgiven, Kurtz is out of line for even bringing this up.

Olbermann dismisses the "overblown stories" as "nonsense," telling The Washington Post that Pat Buchanan appears regularly on MSNBC and that Scarborough "has never been censored, reined in, called on any carpet for his views, just as I haven't." Just because he disagrees with Murphy or Buchanan, Olbermann says, "doesn't mean the network is inhospitable to their points of view."

See? If I deny it, it hasn't happened and isn't true unless I say it is.

One network staffer, who declined to be named describing private conversations, says MSNBC President Phil Griffin told him that "our audience hates Bush" and that squeezing conservative shows into a liberal lineup would just drive them away.

Okay back to my commandments again. If they refuse to go on record as to who they are then nothing they have to say is true, got it? And doesn't everyone hate Bush? I mean all the people that count that is.

While Lou Dobbs serves up incendiary opinions at CNN, none of its prime-time hosts -- Campbell Brown, Larry King and Anderson Cooper -- is known for ideological views.

I'll tell you what CNN's prime is known for: boredom and bad ratings.

Phil Griffin has tried to smooth things over. He apologized to analyst Mike Murphy after the Olbermann incident, and Brokaw made a point of appearing with Murphy on Scarborough's show the next morning.

Note who did NOT apologize to Murphy. And you know why? Because I was right. I'm always right.

Griffin did not respond to requests for comment last week,

You know why Phil didn't respond for a comment to the WashPo? Because he was out running my errands that's why. Really what's more important? Me or the Washington Post? Right. It's me. It's always me. And Phil gets that. He knows he's my bitch. Speaking of bitches, more blathering from Kurtz:

MSNBC finished last for the week, but it is attracting more viewers than in the past, along with some unwanted attention.

I resent his characterization of our ratings as being in last place. Sure it's true but the important thing is that more people are watching us even if more people are watching other networks.

"Until recently, MSNBC didn't count," Olbermann says. "We didn't move the needle. We do now, and then some. And this scares people, especially people who work for Rupert Murdoch."

Yeah baby, that's the way I like it. Rupert and Bill and all those pinheads at Fox get up every morning thinking of ways they can get to me, Keith Olbermann's Ego. Creating all these false gossip stories about on-air squabbling at MSNBC. It never happened. Got it? If I say so, it never happened. If I say we have the best ratings of all the cable networks then it's true too. You know why? Because I said so. And what I say matters. Got it? Good, now don't forget it.

Damn Dana Milbank! So who the hell does he think he is to give an interview to Politico? Who cares about him anyway? I made the official statement about this entire affair le Milbank on my official website of record, Daily Kos. What more could there possibly be to say but this:

But what if a few of them believe him? What then? What about me?

So what if I used his defection to CNN to play up to the Kossacks and claim he was fired when he was history a month or more ago? It is about me after all and what is best for me, not anyone else, not the fans, not Milbank and damn sure not that Bill-O guy on Fox. Hate him. (Note to self: Add Milbank to enemies list-pronto. And that bastard at Politico for believing him and printing the truth.) The only truth that matters after all is my version of it.

That's why he had to go. Well that and everyone at Daily Kos was pissed at me because I didn't ask him about this whole Obama thing. Boy were they pissed. And I can't have them pissed at me, the fabulous Keith Olbermann. I need love. I need worship. I need affirmations that I am wonderful. Why else would I post during the middle of my own television show on Kos if not to show them how much I love them (okay I need them because I really don't love anyone other than myself but they don't need to know that--it's just between you and me and Keith). Where was I? Oh yeah, Milbank.

So after five years of being one of my best on-air buddies (do you really think that I'd associate with these people off-air?) Milbank had to go because everyone at Kos was pissed with him and by extension, with me. And I need love. I need lots of love. I need fawning. Lots and lots of fawning. Okay so Milbank had already let us know he was going to leave us for CNN. (Did I mention I left CNN twice? Such losers. They just didn't appreciate my greatness.) What? Milbank. Oh yeah, him. Okay so Milbank told us the day before he printed the Obama column he was leaving to go to those bastards at CNN. Whatever. I don't need him. My show doesn't need him (Anyone seen Craig Crawford? Yeah I know he was totally in the tank for Hillary but I need a Milbank substitute, stat!).

So anyway, Milbank is gone to CNN. Good riddance. But did he have to try and show me up by telling everyone he was out the door before I claimed I'd fired him from my show? Bastard. I'll get even with him for this. But it's okay. Because My fans adore me. And why wouldn't they? I am, of course, Keith Olbermann. And I canned Milbank no matter what that little bastard says. And Here. And here. Oh screw it, he's lying, and I'm right. Because I'm always right no matter what the facts really show. Remember that okay?
